about

On the 5th of December 1791 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart died. On the 5th of December 1972 M° Stefano Bollani was born.
I composed this tune after receiving a commission from Bollani to write a new set of music inspired by the Austrian genius.
The chord progression is taken out from the first 14 bars of the Mozart's Requiem.
Few years ago I heard the story that a copy of a finished version of the Requiem (Mozart died before he could complete it) was found in an old theatre in Brasile. It was completed by a guy who had been in contact with Sussmayer (who was Mozart's student and assistant who completed the Requiem following Mozart's notes and instructions). This explains the Brazilian flavour that I used to design the melodic line.
